![]() Managing Type 2 Diabetes is not difficult if you follow a few simple principles. Sprinkle carbohydrate portions throughout the day. Take some time to understand portion size and what foods actually contribute to blood glucose levels. Make meal combinations that include a fiber source, a fat source, and a protein source. Eat regularly. Include exercise in your life!!! Carbohydrates eaten will directly effect blood glucose levels but they do not need to be totally eliminated from the diet nor should they be. Eating the ones that pack the most nutritional value are the best choice. Choose whole grains, rather than those highly processed, or made with added fat and sugar, like donuts. Whole fruit is a better choice than for example, a glass of fruit juice simply because it will have a higher fiber content. Coupling fruit with a few nuts will help slow digestion, thereby stablizing blood sugar. A personal evaluation with a Registered Dietitian will help you determine the amount of carbohydrates you are allotted daily to be your best self.
