Education and Experience in the Field: I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition at Baylor University and my Dietetic Internship at Tulane University in New Orleans, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. My career as a registered dietitian began by providing medical nutrition therapy to cancer patients of every type. In that role, I also spearheaded a culinary nutrition program for cancer survivors and medical students. I then relocated to Saint Louis to complete my Master’s in Public Health at Washington University, where I developed the skills to create lasting behavior change using cutting edge techniques. While in Saint Louis, I worked part-time with patients with end stage renal disease and encountered the end effects of unchecked diabetes and hypertension. I also completed a summer practicum in Haiti, working with mothers and children to provide nutrition education for early child development and researched the effects of the environment on nutrition. Throughout my experiences, I have worked with a wide variety of patients in fields around the globe and am comfortable tackling almost all nutrition areas of concern.
Philosophy: All systems of life and society are fueled by food. However, food is much more than fuel for our bodies. Food is a part of every day life. It can connect us to our past, create joy, or spark creativity. Food can also invoke negative feelings, instilling shame, fear, or even pain. My professional approach is to help you identify the root of your concerns regarding food, specifically for your health. Together, we will determine your individual goals and motivations. I will help you develop practical, long-term modifications to your eating patterns that consider all aspects of your life, including your money, time, energy, and environment. This is a journey that you do not have to embark on alone!
About Me: In my free time, you will find me in the kitchen testing a new recipe or baking a cake. I love to learn about different cultures, travel, read, do yoga, and relax with my husband and cat.
