Educational Background: I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University. I have interned and worked in a variety of settings including a high school program for underachieving youth, a hospital’s mentally ill chemical abuse program for teens, young adults, and adults, a residential facility for adults, a program for homeless individuals and domestic violence survivors, an partial care program for adults, and as an in-home clinician for adolescents. I have provided both group and individual counseling, and have worked with a wide range of ages, from young children to older adults. Throughout my experience I have provided counseling services to individuals with a wide variety of presenting concerns, from severe to situational. I was also involved as a preschool assistant teacher for six years.
Therapeutic Approach: I enjoy working with a wide variety of people, and I believe that providing effective treatment is unique to each individual. I believe that kindness and compassion are essential in establishing meaningful connections with clients, a playful nature is important to have with younger populations, and nonjudgment is paramount. I generally approach therapy from a Person-Centered background, focusing on support, validation, positive regard, and genuineness. I also integrate the Psychodynamic approach, as well as Cognitive Behavioral, Culturally Sensitive, Feminist, Integrative, Interpersonal, Multicultural, Relational, and Strengths-Based approaches. I believe it is important to meet each client with a new perspective and to adapt therapy to best suit their needs.
Some of my favorite activities include: spending as much time as possible with my niece, hiking (or doing anything outside), playing soccer, traveling, and trying new restaurants (I love food). I also really like scary movies.
