I believe that successful counseling begins with the relationship between the client and the counselor. I work to establish a trusting, open and non-judgmental environment with the client. In such an environment, I come to understand your goals for mental wellness and the challenges you face. With this understanding, we work together to establish a plan for treatment that meets your individual needs. Using the plan as a starting point, we become collaborators on your journey to wellness. As collaborators, we work together to help you reach your treatment goals. Since positive mental wellness is connected to our physical well-being, we will consider aspects of mental wellness such as sleep hygiene, healthy nutrition, and an active lifestyle as part of treatment.

I am here to listen to your story, provide mental wellness education and to be a support. Because everyone has had unique experiences during their lifetimes, I believe that there is no one way to approach counseling, therefore I prefer an eclectic approach. A person may be benefited from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused therapy, a person-centered approach, as well as other approaches. I also believe that creative approaches, such as drawing, play, writing and music and other expressive approaches can be a helpful supplement to talk-therapy.

I earned my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Kean University in Union, NJ. My bachelor’s degree was earned at Fairleigh Dickinson University where I majored in psychology. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey. I serve as a volunteer peer group facilitator at a grief support center that serves grieving children, teens, young adults and their caregivers. I am also a member of several counseling professional associations and am a National Certified Counselor.

I my spare time I enjoy hiking, nature photography and watercolor painting. I love to walk for fitness and plan to visit as many National Parks as possible while I remain on the planet. I am a lifelong resident of New Jersey.

I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Felician University. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor and have a variety of experience working with youth who struggle with mental health/emotional issues, behavioral challenges, substance use or developmental disabilities in the home setting.

I enjoy working with people and helping them achieve their full potential. I like to call my clinical focus a “rainbow”, as I believe in multiple approaches for treatment. I believe in being Solution Focused & Person Centered, which focuses on empathy, being genuine and in the moment with clients, all while helping them be goal-directed and focused on what they want to achieve.

I like to be creative in my therapy approach and have a philosophy for creating healthy relationships, as I feel this maintains a stress-free environment when working with clients. “When you change your mind, you can change your behavior”. I believe in meeting clients where they are to help them move along their journey. My passion for promoting positive relationships through simple practices is where I can utilize the “Nurtured Heart Approach” as it is about capturing everyday moments and reflecting them back to clients in ways that celebrate their great decisions, judgment and wisdom.

My approach to counseling varies from client to client. I do not believe that there is a “one size fits all”, cookie cutter approach to counseling. Each and every client has different needs, strengths, and backgrounds. Therefore, it is important to tailor counseling approaches to each client. I tend to focus on client strengths and abilities as much as possible. Empowering my clients is something I can incorporate into all counseling styles! I also use a person-centered approach as much as possible in order to enhance empowerment and allow my clients to take an active role in creating and achieving their goals. I meet all clients where they are, in terms of treatment acceptance and goals in order to build strong rapport.

I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University.  Prior to that, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Rutgers University as well as my Associate Degree in Applied Science in Animal Science Technology from Camden County College.

My therapeutic approaches are mainly Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy.  With the understanding that a positive therapeutic alliance is one of the most important aspects of treatment, I emphasize the need for empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness as a major part of my approach.  I also recognize the significance of the mind-body connection, and I view the client through this holistic lens.

In accordance with the cognitive behavioral model, I will examine a client’s most central ideas about themselves, their core beliefs.  I recognize that individuals with varying core beliefs might be presented with the same situation but will think, feel, and behave very differently.  It is my goal in therapy to explore these core beliefs as they relate to my clients’ issue(s), with the objective to modify the client’s dysfunctional (inaccurate and/or unhelpful) thinking and belief system in an effort to bring about enduring, emotional, and beneficial change.

I am also interested animal-assisted therapy (AAT).  Although I presently do not practice this, I aspire to someday adjunctively include this in my treatment paradigm due to the benefits that specially trained animals can provide to patients with varying emotional issues, which include, but is not limited to PTSD.  This will amalgamate my background as a Certified Veterinary Technician with my degree in clinical mental health counseling.

I enjoy spending free time with my mixed breed rescue dog, Sativa, as well as with my close friends.  I also like to read, play the guitar, and go to continuing education conferences.

Hello, my name is Eurica Pinthieve and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor and a Doctoral Candidate pursuing a doctorate degree as a counselor educator.

The therapeutic process is one that is exciting, intensive, enlightening, and empowering. As a counselor, I will work with you to attain your established goal. I believe the purpose of therapy is to assist and support you in your process of working through your challenges by empowering you to realize who you are, understand what is happening in your life, and utilize all resources to facilitate the change you desire.

As a counselor, I can work with you through the healing process and empowering you to make the necessary changes you seek. I feel honored to be with you in your therapeutic process. I will strive to create an environment where you feel safe to talk honestly about those things that are most important to you so you can find the inner strength to cope with life’s challenges, no matter your culture, background, or worldview.

I am an advocate of client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. I believe that clients are their own experts and possess the inner strength, creativity, and coping mechanisms to work through any issues they may have. I see my role as a change agent to assist and support you in tapping into those inner resources. I also feel that the physical, psychological, and emotional health of a person are all inter-connected and as a counselor, I must work with each to promote the total wellness of a client.

Education and Experience: I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Seton Hall University in 2017 and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Caldwell University in 2020. I am currently a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in New Jersey and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I completed my practicum and internship at Jersey Center for Nonviolence, a domestic violence organization, where I worked with adolescents, adult survivors, and adult perpetrators of domestic violence. I also completed an internship at Resolve Community Counseling Center where I worked with adolescents (14+) and adults. At Resolve, I enjoyed working with a variety of clients and issues such as anxiety, depression, and relationship issues as well as facilitating support groups for emotional eating with adults as well as an anxiety support group for teens. Additionally, I am a Certified Personal Trainer by National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT) as well as a Behavior Change Specialist by American Council on Exercise (ACE-BCS) which has increased my passion for helping individuals reach their body image and self-esteem goals in support of their mental health.

Therapeutic Approach and Treatment Philosophy:  Everyone has a story and each person is the expert of their own lives. Through a strength-based approach, I seek to understand and validate each client’s experience as an already whole and complete person while working together to identify strengths, abilities, and limiting beliefs about ourselves and the world around us that often cause emotional distress. Fostering a non-judgmental safe space for trust and rapport to grow is an essential building block for an effective therapeutic relationship. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, I view my role as being in the passenger seat, with the client as the driver, and the therapeutic relationship as the vehicle to achieving goals as well as self-empowerment. Throughout this journey, I utilize many tools and exercises that promote self-inquiry, clarity, insight, and growth. I believe in an integrative therapeutic approach to meet and adapt to each client’s needs and expectations of counseling, often using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy), Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

When I am not counseling, I enjoy exercising, watching professional wrestling, basketball, and going to the beach when it’s warm. I also enjoy reading, watching YouTube, and spending quality time with family and friends.
