In therapy, I strive to create a safe environment because I understand that seeking help can be uncomfortable and perhaps difficult. After all, therapy is about change and growth. In our sessions, we can develop a collaborative relationship focused on empowering you and helping you develop the emotional agility you need to manage your life in a way that satisfies you. I will bring a respectful, client-focused style and curiosity to explore your goals and motivations to our relationship. I will also bring a holistic perspective and knowledge of a variety of modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic and Mindfulness. However, you are the expert on you; no one knows you as well as you do. You will bring that knowledge, that expertise, as well as a willingness to explore your goals, motivations and even ambivalence to our collaborative relationship. Together we can develop a map, and I will help you travel to your destination.

I attended Northeastern Illinois University, where I earned first a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and later a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. I am currently enrolled in an alcohol and drug counselor certification (CADC) program. I have experience with individuals, couples and Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) and Substance Use treatment groups. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, The Illinois Counseling Association, the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association and the Illinois Adult Aging and Development Association.

Personally, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  I love a good story, whether in a book or movie. I enjoy learning; the world is so full of interesting places, people and ideas. I raise vegetables and enjoy cooking. Walking five miles a day is my most consistent exercise.

I believe every person of any age will experience some kind of emotional and psychological strains resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances in life at some point or another. Matters of mental and physical health states, healthy relationships, communications of all kinds are inevitable in our life journey as they determine one’s growth and functionality. Hence, when the path to a happy, secured life is interrupted due to conflicts -- emotional turmoil, a stressful transition, grief and loss, relationship challenges, or simple desire for personal growth, a therapeutic alliance between client and counselor can unruffle the way and puts the client ahead of the game.

My passion and aspiration in counseling is to work with children and adolescents and adults of different ages and culture. As a therapist, my priority is to build strong alliance with clients, provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can feel safe to challenge and express their deepest fears, self-doubt, shame, faith and trust issues, and interpersonal relationship issues. By utilizing empathic dialogue, I help the individual identify problematic thoughts and behaviors or self-limiting beliefs that interfere with living their best life. As well as help set realistic and achievable goals and treatment. I believe the fundamental principle of a therapeutic relationship includes a balance of support and challenge for growth and change to achieve.

My therapeutic approach is tailored to fit the needs of each individual client as each person carries a unique history, personality, and set of goals. There is no one theory or modality that fits all. In general, I employ practical, results-oriented treatments and integrated approach that are consistent with my clients’ core values. Therapy is a team effort, so I encourage collaboration in developing strategies and evaluating progress.  It is a fulfilling yet humbling endeavor to work alongside each client.

I graduated from Trinity International University with a BA degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.  I also bring to the team an additional and unique asset. I have, before changing field, 30+years of experience within the business arena. As well as my own experiences and journey of healing and growth of which cultivated my passion for counseling -hence, devout to live my life fully by connecting with others intentionally and deeply. Not to skip, in my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, listening to good stories and music, joining humanitarian missions, and exploring and enjoying nature’s beauty.
