Education and Experience:
I received my Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from The College of New Jersey, CACREP approved. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rowan University. I am certified as a National Certified Counselor and obtain my license as a Licensed Associate Counselor.  I began working with school aged children, followed by expanding my focus to adolescent and adult populations. I have experience in community mental health agencies, as well as college and academic settings.

As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe, welcoming space for individuals to share their story in a non-judgmental environment. While providing support to clients, I will assist clients in setting realistic, achievable goals while validating their experiences. Therapy is a journey and my role is to motivate, encourage, and travel with the client. Whether we look at our lives as a series of chapters or stories, I believe in adding new chapters of change and exploration. We may even write completely new stories.

My therapeutic approach incorporates multiple modalities tailored to the individual, couple, or family. With a background in family systems, I have gained a passion for working with families, while understanding the role individuals play within their family. My therapeutic style includes person-centered, narrative, emotionally focused, strategic family therapy, multicultural, play therapy, trauma focused, solution focused, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

In my free time, you can find me on my yoga mat practicing handstands or at the beach collecting seashells. I am always ready to find a new restaurant to try or get ice cream. I enjoy time spent with friends and family, fishing, reading a good book, puzzles, and watching the latest binge-worthy series.

Education and Training
I began my formal training at Syracuse University, where I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree.  After enrolling in several fascinating psychology courses, I knew my next step would be graduate school, which would enable me to pursue my dream of becoming a therapist.  I obtained my Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. There, I facilitated group therapy sessions in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) while focusing on problem-solving skills, anger and stress management, relationship skills, coping skills and illness management.  Following my Master’s Degree, I have worked as an outpatient therapist with a wide range of diverse populations.  Also, counseling children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics has provided me the opportunity to help people of all ages.

Counseling Philosophy
I believe in the importance of a strong, non-judgemental therapeutic alliance between my clients and myself.  Providing a safe environment, with unconditional support and empathy, is one of my top priorities.  Change can feel scary and appears even more daunting when adding the stressors of everyday life. My goal as a therapist is to help people navigate through struggles from both the past and present, while learning new coping mechanisms and addressing change in a positive light. I enjoy going through the journey with my clients as they reach optimal mental health, enhance their quality of life and achieve their goals.
My counseling approach entails a combination of treatment modalities.  Based on my training and experience and since no two people are the same, I use an individualized mixture of the following theories: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and if clients have a limited treatment time I may use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

Hobbies
In addition to my lifelong passion for helping others, I love spending time my daughter, fiancé, family, friends and Cocker Spaniel.  A few of my favorite activities include traveling (I especially love Southern California!), watching movies, running, and I always enjoy a good laugh.

Education and Experience: I am a Licensed Associate Counselor who earned my Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Rutgers University in New Jersey. I have been working as a professional in the fields of mental health and addiction for 10 years. Throughout these years I have had the honor and privilege to work with diverse individuals from all walks of life trying their best to cope with a wide array of various symptoms, personal, societal, cultural, and environmental struggles. I have great respect for the innate strength and courage I see in everyone I have supported, guided, and assisted on their own personal journey of healing and recovery. To me the helping profession is so much more than a career, it is who I am as a person.

My Philosophy: My approach to counseling is guided by the values and principles of psychiatric rehabilitation; which in essence, honors and respects the dignity, rights, strengths, uniqueness, and beauty in all individuals. The healing process is rooted in establishing a foundation of trust, hope, and safety. Once the foundation is laid is when the healing can begin. I use an eclectic approach which is comprised of techniques backed by empirical evidence; such as, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral interventions, Mindfulness, Relaxation techniques, Talk and Play Therapy, Behavioral, and Solution Focused Interventions to facilitate the healing process. The desired outcome is the emersion of the “authentic” best version of self.

More About Me: I love life, my family, people, all livings things, and nature. I look for and see the beauty and mysticism in all creation. I am always on a quest to learn and grow because I believe once the curiosity dims life becomes stagnant. I choose happiness and to live each day with zest, spark, and a heart overflowing with love.

Specialties: Including, but not limited to individual therapy for children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, anxiety, ASD, behavioral issues, depression, emotional disturbances, grief and loss, psychosis, sleep disturbances, stress management, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, psychosis and trauma/PTSD, as well as those struggling in areas related to anger management, coping skills, motivation, parenting, peer relationships, self-esteem, self-harm and social skills, Addiction, Alcohol Abuse, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Chronic Impulsivity, Life Transitions, Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD), Oppositional Defiance, Relationship Issues, School Issues, Traumatic Brain Injury

I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.  I am a licensed social worker, working towards a license in clinical social work.  I have over seven years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in school and outpatient settings providing individual and group therapy in addition to psychoeducational and social skills education.

I believe that a strong and trusting therapist-client connection is the foundation of any meaningful therapeutic relationship.  My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based and nonjudgmental.  My goal is to collaborate with clients to problem solve and find perspective in order to gain insight as well as develop concrete strategies that will help reduce disruptive and maladaptive behaviors.  In my practice I integrate facets of cognitive behavioral therapy and humanistic therapy combined with additional therapeutic approaches depending upon individual needs as I feel there is no “one size fits all” approach.

When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children.  I also enjoy playing pickleball, ping pong, drums and chess.  In addition I make sure to find time to exercise, listen to music, take in a movie, watch a hockey game, work on projects around the house and either at the end of or before it all, relax with a cup of coffee.
