I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling from Montclair State University. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in the State of New Jersey as well as a National Certified Counselor. My experience includes both individual and group treatment. I have worked in a variety of settings which include outpatient and residential programs, allowing me to have the opportunity to work with a wide range of disorders and clients. I completed my internship at a substance abuse clinic which gave me a wealth of knowledge and experience with that type of population.
The approach I take in my treatment is building a working relationship with clients to enable trust between client and counselor. My theoretical orientation is a combination of Person-Centered/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am a strong believer in empowering people to make their own choices. I encourage people to look at their thoughts and feelings because a lot can be learned from how we think and perceive the world. Motivational interviewing is another tool that I rely on in my treatment. Building up a client's positive self image and pointing out discrepancies has many benefits to helping a client achieve their goals.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends. During the summers, I love taking trips down the shore and relaxing by the beach. I also like hiking, trying new restaurants, and watching different kinds of shows.
