Counseling Philosophy
I believe that positive change can occur when we are given the space to explore the ways in which we cope with our life experiences. Seeking therapy is an honorable step towards living a more purposeful and balanced life.  Creating a safe, caring, non-judgmental environment enables clients to explore themselves through their unique experiences. My goal in therapy is to facilitate healing for individuals by looking at each person through a holistic, culturally sensitive, and strength-based lens. That means that therapy will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

In therapy, I employ a wide-range of approaches personalized to client’s needs with a person-centered and strengths- based foundation.  In addition to the evidence based approaches, I utilize such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness Based Therapies (MBT), I also uses techniques from a mind-body approach for those who have experienced traumas, anxiety, LGBTQ-related issues, loss, and depression.

Training and Experience
My formal training began when I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Indiana University. There, I facilitated weekly groups for high-risk middle school aged girls. Additionally, I also worked with children at a preschool focusing on early childhood interventions. I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University where I had the pleasure of working with diverse populations exhibiting a wide-range of presenting issues. These include but are not limited to, working with severe trauma with children, adolescents, families, parents, and individual adults experiencing anxiety, life transitions, separation/divorce, personal/professional identity, religion/spirituality, depression, disordered eating, personality disorders, loss/grief, work related issues, and LGBTQ+ associated struggles. After earning my Masters, I have worked in non-profits providing counseling services to those who have experienced trauma and were challenged with significant life-transitions. She also successfully created an adolescent boys group at a high school in the Chicagoland community she served. My life-long goal is to continue to promote the infusion of healing with clients through a strong therapeutic partnership.

Hobbies
I have a love for music, dance, nature, animals, and exploring new parts of the world.  In my free time, I usually try out a new recipe, read about new research, listen to music or watch a new show/documentary.  I also loves learning about ways to better balance work and life and has found yoga to be a great escape.
